FUJINOMIYA, Japan (Aug. 3, 2026) – Participants in a Mount Fuji overnight hike organized by Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Outdoor Recreation Center visit Fujisan Sengen Shrine before beginning their ascent, Aug. 3, 2026. Visiting the historical shrine traditionally marks the start of the trek to Mount Fuji’s summit. CFAY provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and more than 27,000 military and civilian personnel and their families.
