SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii – Brig. Gen. John “Brad” Hinson, commanding general of U.S. Army Sustainment Command, speaks with a Soldier from the 25th Infantry Division about ongoing equipment turn-ins during Operation Lightning Purge at the Modernization, Displacement, and Repair Site (MDRS), Jan. 17, 2025. The initiative—driven by the 25th ID in support of the Army’s Rapid Removal of Excess (R2E) program—focuses on accelerating divestiture to enable modernization across the Indo-Pacific. During his visit, Hinson also met with leaders from Army Field Support Battalion-Hawaii and the 402nd Army Field Support Brigade to assess the progress of sustainment operations.
