Sgt. Eric Rodriguez from Los Angeles, will compete in the 2012 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo., April 30-May 5. Rodriguez, 29, will compete in swimming and wheelchair basketball. Rodriguez was wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated inside a compound while serving in Afghanistan in 2011 resulting in the loss of his leg. He's inspired by the fictional characters of Rocky Balboa and John Rambo for their traits of "never giving up and always pushing forward no matter the situation." More than 200 wounded, ill or injured service members from the Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Special Operations Command are scheduled to compete in the Paralympic-style competition.
