The Boxer Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) form a cohesive Navy and Marine Corps combined-arms team, ready to respond across a range of military operations. The Navy and Marine Corps team delivers decisive integrated American naval power. Boxer is the flag ship of the Boxer ARG and is currently underway conducting routine operations in U.S. 3rd Fleet with elements of the 15th MEU. The crew of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) was awarded the 2023 Battle Efficiency (“E”) on April 12, 2024.
Makin Island was awarded the BATTLE "E" for sustained superior performance in an operational environment, and sustained continuous readiness through the Optimized Fleet Response Plan in 2023.
