A U.S. Air Force MQ-9 Reaper aircraft assigned to the 147th Attack Wing, Texas Air National Guard, Takes off during a search and rescue training mission as part of exercise Northern Viking 26 near Keflavík Air Base, Iceland, Aug. 28, 2026. The mission incorporates MQ-9 Reapers, a U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft and an Icelandic Coast Guard Airbus H225 Super Puma as U.S. and Icelandic forces practice coordinated SAR procedures. Practicing SAR strengthens the relationships, interoperability and military readiness necessary for U.S. and Allied forces to respond together to shared challenges in the Arctic and North Atlantic.
