A U.S. Air Force MQ-9 Reaper aircraft assigned to the 147th Attack Wing, Texas Air National Guard, takes off during a search and rescue training mission as part of exercise Northern Viking 26 at Keflavík Air Base, Iceland, Aug. 28, 2026. During the mission, MQ-9 Reapers operated alongside a U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft and an Icelandic Coast Guard Airbus H225 Super Puma practice coordinated search and recovery procedures. NV26 provides U.S. and Allied forces opportunities to refine tactics, techniques and procedures and improve their ability to operate together during natural emergencies and other contingencies.
