A U.S. Air Force MQ-9 Reaper aircraft assigned to the 147th Attack Wing, Texas Air National Guard, taxis during a search and rescue training mission as part of exercise Northern Viking 26 at Keflavík Air Base, Iceland, Aug. 28, 2026. The SAR mission integrates MQ-9 Reapers with a U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft and an Icelandic Coast Guard Airbus H225 Super Puma to practice coordinated SAR procedures. Training together during NV26 allows U.S. and Allied forces to refine tactics, techniques and procedures, improving military readiness and interoperability for missions ranging from natural emergencies to the collective defense of the High North.
