A U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft assigned to VP-62, at Keflavik Air Base, taxis during a search and rescue training mission as part of exercise Northern Viking 26 at Keflavík AB, Iceland, Aug. 28, 2026. The SAR scenario brings together the P-8A, MQ-9 Reapers assigned to the 147th Attack Wing, Texas Air National Guard, and an Icelandic Coast Guard Airbus H225 Super Puma to practice operating as an integrated team. Training alongside Iceland strengthens relationships and trust while improving the readiness and interoperability needed to respond to emergencies in the Arctic and North Atlantic.
