U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Dane Schielke, an explosive ordnance disposal officer assigned to EOD, Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, examines the site with Ariana Horai, a coordination division liaison assigned to the Okinawa Defense Bureau, during an ordnance disposal operation at Ie Shima, Japan, May 28, 2026. EOD Marines disposed of numerous pieces of unexploded ordnance, discovered by local farmers, in order to preserve the safety of the local community. Schielke is a native of Florida.
