Dr. Larkin Kennedy, scientific recovery expert, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, sifts through soil fragments during a recovery operation in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, March 26, 2026. Soil from excavation units is transferred to screening stations where U.S. personnel and Lao citizens search for aircraft parts, life support material and possible osseous material.
