U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Edward E. Kajko, explosive ordnance disposal technician, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency 26-3LA recovery team 2, excavates dirt during a recovery operation in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, March 13, 2026. Soil from excavated units are transferred to screening stations where U.S. personnel and local workers search for aircraft wreckage, life support material and possible remains. Kajko is a Short Term Individual Augmentee to DPAA from the 354th Civil Engineer Squadron EOD, attached to Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska.
