    DBIDS Rolls Out at NAS Sigonella

    As “Hub of the Med,” Naval Air Station Sigonella not only hosts service members from American and Italian military, but also supports the NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) system. NATO AGS contains a lot of moving parts involving multiple countries and branches of the military, so it can be hard to stand out to leadership. Intelligence Specialist 3rd class William Chandler from Cedar Bluff, Alabama was able to do just that.

    Although the U.S. Navy now embraces June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month with the theme “Pride in All Who Serve,” it was only 10 years ago that Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT) was the U.S. military’s official policy. Since the repeal of DADT in September of 2011, LGBTQ+ Sailors have been able to simultaneously serve their country and fully express their identity.
