Soldiers with the 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Arkansas National Guard, prepare to leave Kordsmeier Hall on Camp Robinson today for a federally funded deployment to Washington, D.C.
As part of a routine rotational relief, the 100-member detachment will take over for fellow Arkansas guardsmen from the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade. Joining the "D.C. Safe and Beautiful" mission's summer surge, the soldiers will assist the Metropolitan Police Department with civil security operations, including visible presence patrols aimed at reducing crime and maintaining public safety.(U.S. Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt.
