    70th ISR Wing

"It is a great honor to be part of this important and significant day,” Shwedo said. “I am proud of Col. Martemucci and will count on his leadership as we continue to provide world-class ISR to our decision makers in the Combatant Commands and all the way up to the highest national levels. The daily contributions from the stellar men and women of the 70th ISR Wing guarantee the continued success of our global missions.”

Martemucci is a career intelligence officer. His assignments have included supporting the F-15, F-16 and B-2 test programs, as well as multiple operational weapon systems. He commanded the 315th Network Warfare Squadron, the Air Force’s premier Computer Network Attack and Computer Network Exploitation squadron, and the 318th Cyberspace Operations Group. Between commands, he served as the chief of the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Division of Air Force Central Command’s 609th Combined Air Operations Center.

Immediately preceding this assignment, Martemucci served as the assistant deputy director, Deputy Directorate for ISR Operations, J-32, The Joint Staff, Pentagon, where he led a 90-member Joint team in the management of the Department of Defense’s worldwide Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, and Sensitive Reconnaissance operations.

"Rebecca and I are honored and humbled by the privilege of serving with the men and women of the 70th ISR Wing," said Martemucci. "We're excited to build on the Wing's incredible legacy of innovation and spirit of partnership to help deliver multi-domain intelligence to combatant command warfighter and strategic decision makers alike."

In addition to the change of command, during the ceremony Shwedo presented Hensley with the Legion of Merit for his outstanding leadership.

“I’m so humbled and honored that the Air Force gave me the opportunity to command America’s Cryptologic Wing,” Hensley said. “You all do an amazing job every single day, and I thank you for you and your families’ staunch commitment, dedicated service, and selfless sacrifice to our Air Force and the nation. And, I also want to say this … there are many, many senior leaders that appreciate what you do, all the way up to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force.”

Hensley’s next assignment will be to the Pentagon as the senior military assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.

According to the wing’s mission statement, it is ‘America’s Cryptologic Wing,’ delivering decision advantage for national-level decision makers, combatant commands and air component operations and forces. The wing executes ISR and information assurance operations; enables air, cyber and space operations; and directs personnel development and installation support activities. The wing serves as 25th Air Force's ‘Lead Wing’ for National-to-Tactical Integration Enterprise operations, Core Cryptologic Group operations and ISR operations enabling cyber and space effects.

"It's very fitting that as the Air Force celebrates its 70th year, it's the 70th Wing that is poised to lead in another period of great change," said Martemucci. "We stand on the shoulders of giants - innovators who weren't scared to be bold - some from 1907, some from 1947, and many serving among us today. Like those pioneers, we in this great Wing are uniquely positioned to innovate and partner to advance the Nation's vital Signals Intelligence and National-Tactical Integration mission across the air, space, and cyberspace domains."
