    FORT RILEY, Kan. — Army ROTC Cadet Kasey Jacobs, a nursing student from Baylor University, performs an intravenous catheter insertion on a combat medic assigned to the Emergency Department at Irwin Army Community Hospital. Directly observing and guiding the procedure is Cecilia Nowlin, a Registered Nurse and clinical preceptor, who supervises the future officer to ensure clinical safety and protocol standards are met. The hands-on exercise was part of the hospital's four-week Nurse Summer Training Program (NSTP), giving nursing cadets valuable clinical experiences not typically offered in civilian nursing programs.
