Leo and Eval Collier pose for a photo with 2nd Lt. Donavan Davenport during Northern Illinois University’s Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony, May 15, in the Carl Sandburg Auditorium on the university’s campus in Dekalb, Ill. Davenport is branching as a Medical Officer in the active Army. He served for six years in the Illinois Army National Guard serving with the North Riverside-based 128th Field Feeding Platoon. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications, is on the Dean’s List, and is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity at NIU. The ROTC program commissioned 10 new Army second lieutenants, five of whom are joining the Illinois Army National Guard.
