Sgt. Maj. Roland McGinnis, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa, and Command Master Chief Jerry Dotson, Naval Information Force Reserve, attend National Defense University's Keystone course and listen to briefs on U.S. Space Command's roles and missions in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jan. 12, 2026. Dotson said the course is vital for senior leaders to understand how to work in a joint environment, “I believe Keystone is critically important for a Command Senior Enlisted Leader because it educates and prepares leaders to operate effectively within a joint environment. While understanding how the Navy operates has enabled my success to this point, gaining insight into the roles, capabilities, and integration of other services is essential to leading in a joint setting. This broader perspective ensures mission success in protecting our homeland and our allies.” The Keystone Course educates senior enlisted leaders serving in or selected for general or flag officer-level joint or service headquarters that may be assigned as a joint task force. USSPACECOM works with senior leaders across the Department of War and our allies to foster a warfighting culture and promote professional growth, which is instrumental to the rapidly advancing capabilities of the Joint Force.
