Soldiers from Company B, 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) secure a home along the border between Iraq and Syria on Aug. 4, 2004. The residents are suspected of smuggling weapons into Iraq from Syria and distributing them to terrorist cells throughout Iraq. The searches were a part of Operation Phantom Linebacker, an operation designed to help stem the flow of munitions and foreign fighters from Syria. During this search, they detained 20 people for questioning. Terrorists have been suspected of using the region as a haven from which they conduct their attacks.
