U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Rene Rodriguez Jr. uses a recovery wench to pull a truck out of muddy water during KAMANDAG 3 on Colonel Ernesto P. Ravina Air Base, Philippines, Oct. 8, 2019. Logistics Vehicle System Replacement wrecker operators from Combat Logistics Detachment 342 recover various vehicles that are immobile due to the muddy terrain. KAMANDAG helps participating forces maintain a high level of readiness and responsiveness, and enhances combined military-to-military relations, interoperability, and multinational coordination. KAMANDAG 3 is a Philippine-led, bilateral exercise with participation from Japan. KAMANDAG is an acronym for the Filipino phrase “Kaagapay Ng Mga Manirigma Ng Dagat,” which translates to “Cooperation of the Warriors of the Sea,” highlighting the partnership between the U.S. and Philippine militaries.
