JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO – FORT SAM HOUSTON - (Sept. 13, 2019) After six weeks of training, Aviation Ordnanceman 1st Class Sefton Semple of Freeport, N.Y., assigned to Navy Recruiting (NRD) District San Antonio, was promoted to the rank of chief petty officer during a pinning ceremony held at the Fort Sam Houston Theatre. Semple is a 1996 graduate of East Ruimveldt High School in Georgetown, Guyana, and a 2015 graduate of the University of Phoenix. He joined America’s Navy in 2004 becoming a recruiting in 2019. Pinning on Semple’s chief insignia was his wife, Aliceia and their children. “Becoming a Navy chief allows me to continue mentoring and training Sailors,” said Semple. “It also allows me access to the Chief’s Mess in order to network, so I can to continue to develop myself and my future Sailors.” At the ceremony’s conclusion, active duty, retired, and former chief petty officers “Manned the Rails” and saluted Semple as he passed through the side boys and was welcomed into the NRD Chief’s Mess. NRD San Antonio’s area of responsibility includes more than 34 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting Stations spread throughout 144,000 square miles of Central and South Texas territory.
