Laulima Navy is a year-long initiative launched on the Navy’s 249th birthday on Oct. 13, 2024, to reinforce the Navy’s longstanding and unwavering commitment to Hawaii. Laulima is a Hawaiian value that means “many hands working together.” Many consider it a privilege to call Hawaii home and seek opportunities to show how much they treasure this place. Their gratitude – often in the form of volunteerism or community service – takes on greater significance this year as the countdown begins to the Navy’s 250th birthday in 2025.
Since October 2024, Navy Region Hawaii has been highlighting the many ways that naval commands and components on the islands of Oahu and Kauai protect and care for the community, the people and the land. Our goal is to spotlight 250 acts of community service performed my Sailors and civilians by Oct. 13, 2025, when we commemorate the Navy’s 250th milestone.
Community partnerships and volunteer service have always been important to the Navy mission, and we are proud to work alongside partners to help and support the non-profit organizations and groups that do so much for community.
The Navy’s commitment to Hawaii will continue well beyond 2025. It’s an enduring promise that is part of our mission. show less
