A military CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) training exercise is taking place in a forested outdoor setting. Personnel in full protective gear including gas masks and hazmat suits are attending to a simulated casualty lying on a stretcher on the ground. The scene includes a gray military tent, medical supplies, and multiple responders in different protective suit configurations.

U.S. Marines with the chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense element, 2d Marine Logistics Group, and members of the Swedish Home Guard 296 CBRN Platoon conduct simulated casualty decontamination during Exercise Archipelago Endeavor 26 in Berga, Sweden, Sept. 4, 2026. Combined training between U.S. Marines and the Swedish Armed Forces was focused on CBRN defense, medical crisis response, and amphibious operations, bringing CBRN and medical personnel together to respond to injured personnel following a simulated hazardous-area mission. U.S. and Swedish CBRN personnel practiced decontaminating injured personnel before transferring them to medical personnel for continued care. Archipelago Endeavor 26 strengthens bilateral interoperability, littoral defense capabilities, and tactical cooperation while demonstrating the readiness of U.S. and Swedish forces to operate together in the Baltic Sea region.
