Military personnel in CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) protective gear are conducting a decontamination exercise on a simulated casualty. The personnel are wearing green hazmat suits, gas masks, and military helmets while treating a person lying on a yellow decontamination litter. Colored buckets (red and blue) are visible, consistent with standard decontamination station protocols.

U.S. Marines with the chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense element, 2d Marine Logistics Group, and members of the Swedish Home Guard 296 CBRN Platoon decontaminate a simulated casualty during Exercise Archipelago Endeavor 26 in Berga, Sweden, Sept. 4, 2026. Combined training between U.S. Marines and the Swedish Armed Forces was focused on CBRN defense, medical crisis response, and amphibious operations, bringing CBRN and medical personnel together to respond to injured personnel following a simulated hazardous-area mission. U.S. and Swedish personnel worked together to move and manage an injured casualty before beginning the decontamination process. Archipelago Endeavor 26 strengthens bilateral interoperability, littoral defense capabilities, and tactical cooperation while demonstrating the readiness of U.S. and Swedish forces to operate together in the Baltic Sea region.
