Paratroopers the 11th Airborne Division executes a mass tactical airborne infiltration from a C-130 aircraft onto a simulated enemy airfield during Operation Close Shave as part of exercise Red Flag near Fort Greely, Alaska, June 3, 2026. Prior to infiltration, Green Berets executed special reconnaissance missions under austere conditions to communicate timely and accurate information to air and ground units, facilitating rapid infiltration during Operation Close Shave. Since 1975, Red Flag has provided aircrews the opportunity to train against realistic threats in a contested environment, building experience and confidence before facing real-world adversaries, while ground forces practice identifying and destroying ground-based air defense systems.
