U.S. Green Berets assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) establish long-range communications with the joint operations center at their safe house during Operation Close Shave as part of exercise Red Flag near Delta Junction, Alaska, May 30, 2026. During Red Flag, SF units conduct discrete operations designed to blend in with the local populace. For decades, Red Flag has provided aircrews the opportunity to train against realistic threats in a contested environment, building experience and confidence before facing real-world adversaries, while ground forces practice identifying and destroying ground-based air defense systems.
