U.S. Soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, conduct a call for fire lane during the 1‑501st Aviation Battalion Belt Buckle Rodeo on Fort Bliss, Texas, May 26, 2026. The lane required Soldiers to identify the correct grid coordinates, request a simulated strike over radio, and throw medicine balls at their simulated targets. The belt buckle rodeo, modeled after a cavalry scout spur ride, included multiple strenuous events and ruck marches to build camaraderie within the battalion and distinguish participants from other aviation units.
