Jonathan Riebe, from Colorado Springs, Colo., and platoon commander with amphibious assault vehicle (AAV) platoon, Company K, Battalion Landing Team 3/2, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), explains the capabilities of an AAV and the operations of the ship's well deck in support of the tracked vehicle to Christos I. This is a scheduled port visit for the ship, which is currently deployed to the 6th Fleet area of operation. The MEU operates continuously across the globe, providing the president and unified combatant commanders with a forward-deployed, sea-based quick reaction force.
