The team excavated and sifted through dirt in search of clues to locate missing personnel lost during the Guadalcanal Campaign in World War II. DPAA’s humanitarian mission has a significant role in the Department of Defense’s efforts to build partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region and around the world. The USNA midshipmen, during their summer training and professional development, collaborated with the DPAA. There are approximately 72,000 missing personnel unaccounted-for from World War II.
