After heavy rain, water can flood the archaeological grid, making it more difficult to maintain unit measurements for accurate historical records during excavation. The recovery team members worked to find missing personnel lost during the Guadalcanal Campaign in World War II. DPAA’s humanitarian mission has a significant role in the Department of Defense’s efforts to build partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region and around the world.
