Dr. Kyle McCormick, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) scientific recovery expert, measures out a unit to place within an excavation site during a recovery mission on Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, Aug. 9, 2024. The recovery team excavated and sifted through dirt in search of missing personnel lost during the Guadalcanal Campaign in World War II. DPAA’s humanitarian mission has a significant role in the Department of Defense’s efforts to build partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region and around the world.
