Dr. Kyle McCormick, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) scientific recovery expert, wipes the sweat from his eyes while chopping dirt during a recovery mission on Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, Aug. 15, 2024. McCormick directed the recovery team to continuously break up the clay-like dirt into smaller pieces to make wet-screening it easier. DPAA’s humanitarian mission has a significant role in the Department of Defense’s efforts to build partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region and around the world.
