Dave Brown, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency scientific recovery expert (SRE), uses a pair of binoculars to look across a mountain slope during a recovery mission in South Korea, May 30, 2024. Brown used the binoculars to get a closer view of specific grid locations across the mountain slope throughout the mission. The SRE on mission is the deciding authority for site operations, assisted by the recovery team leader and team sergeant. There are approximately 7,400 unaccounted-for personnel from the Korean War.
