Dave Brown, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency scientific recovery expert (SRE), marks grid labels on flagging tape during a recovery mission in South Korea, May 30, 2024. The SRE on mission is the deciding authority for site operations, assisted by the recovery team leader and team sergeant. Flagging tape is used to mark the corners of each excavation unit as well as designate certain areas on the site that needed to be cleared prior to excavation. There are approximately 7,400 unaccounted-for personnel from the Korean War. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Jonathan McElderry)
