SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Oct. 4, 2017) Capt. Kevin Buckley, center left, commanding officer of the medical treatment facility aboard the hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20), and medical officers embarked aboard Comfort arrive at Centro Medico de Puerto Rico, a medical center in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to speak to local medical leadership regarding the ship’s mission of providing humanitarian assistance throughout the area. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the head federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
