During the Battle of the Pusan Perimeter, Pfc. David M. Smith, Company H, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, jumped on a live grenade during a North Korean assault to save the lives of his comrades. For his actions, Smith was awarded the Medal of Honor. Smith was born and raised in Livingston, Ky.
