IRON BOTTOM SOUND (Aug. 9, 2017) Sailors assigned to the forward-deployed Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Barry (DDG 52) stand on the forecastle while Barry participated in a commemoration ceremony with the Durance-class multi-product replenishment oiler HMAS Success (OR 304), Protector-class off-shore patrol vessel HMNZS Otago (P148) and Pacific-class patrol boat RSIPF Auki (04) for a ceremony honoring the sunken World War II vessel, HMAS Canberra, in Iron Bottom Sound concluding Barry’s port visit to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Guadalcanal Campaign. The 75th commemoration is a tribute to courage, service, and sacrifice of those who fought in the Guadalcanal Campaign of World War II.
