A Latvian child eagerly greets U.S. soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division as they arrive at the child’s school for a community outreach visit to Gulbene, Latvia, Nov. 12, 2014. The schoolchildren, who had never met U.S. soldiers, were able to talk and interact with the group who set up the visit as part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training exercise taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
