Children from a school in Gulbene, Latvia, greet U.S. soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division during their visit to the rural school as part of an outreach Nov. 12, 2014. The soldiers were greeted by students and faculty and got to explain their military occupations, answer and ask questions, and display some military equipment used by the U.S. Army to the children of the combined primary and secondary school. These activities are part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training exercise taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
