Brig. Gen. Niel E. Nelson, center right, congratulates Sgt. Maj. Tamara L. Fode, center left, on her retirement from the Marine Corps June 20 at the Surfside on Camp Kinser. Fode, a Hazelton, North Dakota, native, was given a certificate of appreciation and awarded the Meritorious Service Medal during her retirement ceremony. Fode was the sergeant major of 3rd Marine Logistics Group and served in the Marine Corps for 26 years. During the ceremony, Fode’s husband, Sgt. Maj. Rick L. Fode, also retired after serving 22 years in the Marine Corps. Rick L. Fode was the sergeant major of Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. Nelson is the commanding general of 3rd MLG, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
