CAMP LIBERTY, IRAQ -- Lt. Gen. John R. Vines, commanding general, Multi-National Corps - Iraq, presents Sgt. Daniel Morris, from Reeding, Calif., of 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry, with the Purple Heart Sept. 28 for injuries suffered during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Morris' squad was attacked by a Vehicle-Born Improvised Explosive Device Sept. 11 when he suffered injuries to his leg. Military record indicate that despite these injuries, Morris continued leading his squad and sought medical assistance once the engagement ended. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. John R. Rozean).
