Each day around the world, Soldiers start their mornings improving their physical fitness so they can be ready for any mission. For Sergeant Ashlee Shelton of the 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, the need to be ready came shortly after she finished her own physical training on December 2, 2020 when she drove upon the site of an overturned truck on a rural road outside of Fort Drum, New York.
Each winter, the mountains of Vermont become a travel destination for winter enthusiasts across the nation. The 10th Mountain Division, with its unique heritage as the Armyâs alpine skiers during World War II, has strong roots in this part of the country because of the war-time and post-war contributions of these veterans.
