The final piece of a submerged crane is removed from the Cooper River at Pier G in Charleston, South Carolina, July 30, 2026. The U.S. Coast Guard oversaw salvage operations to protect the marine environment and restore the waterway, working with port partners and a contracted salvage company to remove the crane after it fell into the river on July 10. Coast Guard and salvage crews extracted the remaining four Golden Ray crew members Sept. 9, 2019, in St. Simons Sound near Brunswick, Georgia. The crew members were transported by a Coast Guard Station Brunswick 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew to Glenn County EMS for further medical evaluation.
