Legion Parachute Riggers assigned to Group Support Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) trained Soldiers from 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) to prepare mission critical supplies for Airdrop Operations in Support of Operation Lethal Eagle. On July 14, 2021, Staff Sgt. Tyrrel, a Special Forces Medical Sergeant of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), was awarded the Soldier's Medal, by Major General John W. Brennan, Commanding General, 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne), during a ceremony at the Deeks Language Lab for saving the life of a severely injured drowning woman.
