    Personnel from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District and the Bureau of Reclamation walk a trail near the reservoir, Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026. The tour included an assessment of the surrounding environment as part of the overall management of the dam and its ecosystem.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers administers a critical regulatory program to protect the region's aquatic resources under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. In the Boise River Basin, USACE regulators coordinate with federal and state partners to evaluate how infrastructure operations, including reservoir drawdowns and the six-foot Anderson Ranch Dam raise, affect downstream wetlands and tributary stream beds. Through environmental reviews and habitat mitigation, USACE works to balance critical regional water supply demands with the ecological preservation of local river systems.
