U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 603rd Military Police Company, 109th Military Police Battalion, receive a route and safety briefing prior to starting a six-mile ruck march during the Dark Knight competition held at Ādaži Military Base, Latvia, Sept. 11, 2026. The ruck brought the physical portion of the competition to a close, challenging Soldiers to draw on their remaining strength and endurance after five days of sustained physical and mental demands. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO Allies. V Corps is operationalizing and expanding the Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative with Allies, rapidly integrating emerging technologies into training and tactical plans. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt.
