    U.S. Army Spc. Eduardo Silva, a wheeled vehicle mechanic assigned to the 603rd Military Police Company, 109th Military Police Battalion, finishes the six-mile ruck on the final day of Dark Knight competition held at Ādaži Military Base, Latvia, Sept. 11, 2026. The multi-day best squad competition paired two junior enlisted Soldiers with a noncommissioned officer team leader, challenging each three-Soldier team through events focused on physical fitness, marksmanship, medical skills, rucking and teamwork to test their ability to perform under demanding conditions. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO Allies. V Corps is operationalizing and expanding the Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative with Allies, rapidly integrating emerging technologies into training and tactical plans.
