    U.S. Army Sgt. Ross Storm, a military police officer assigned to the 603rd Military Police Company, 109th Military Police Battalion, helps Pfc. Joanna Gonzalez tighten the straps on her rucksack prior to starting a six-mile ruck during the Dark Knight competition held at Ādaži Military Base, Latvia, Sept. 11, 2026. The ruck marks the final physical challenge of the Dark Knight competition, bringing five days of demanding events to a close before competitors face an in-person board and learn their final standings. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO Allies.
