A formal military ceremony is taking place at what appears to be a U.S. Army installation, with personnel standing at a podium bearing an official seal. Several individuals, including uniformed soldiers in OCP (Operational Camouflage Pattern) uniforms and one civilian, have their heads bowed in what appears to be a moment of prayer or reflection. The setting is an outdoor covered entrance area of a brick building.

U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Jack Lynch, chaplain candidate, provides the benediction at the Ramadi Cross unveiling ceremony, at Camp Johnson, Colchester, Vt., Sept. 11, 2026. The Ramadi Cross was originally built in Ramadi, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom to honor the memory of Soldiers belonging to Task Force Saber, who were killed in action. The cross was transported back to Vermont and placed at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, Vt. until recently. It has since been refurbished and now finds a home at the Vermont National Guard Headquarters and Headquarters Command. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Denis Nunez)
