A military officer in Army Combat Uniform (ACU) is speaking at a podium bearing the Vermont National Guard seal with the motto 'Freedom & Unity'. The event appears to be a memorial or commemorative ceremony, as evidenced by a display panel visible in the background titled 'Remembering Task Force' referencing Vermont National Guard operations in Ramadi, Iraq (2005-2006). Two attendees are visible from behind in the foreground, one in military uniform and one in civilian clothing.

U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Henry “Hank” Harder Jr., Adjutant General, Vermont National Guard, provides remarks during the Ramadi Cross unveiling ceremony at Camp Johnson, Colchester, Vt., Sept. 11, 2026. The Ramadi Cross was originally built in Ramadi, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom to honor the memory of Soldiers belonging to Task Force Saber, who were killed in action. The cross was transported back to Vermont and placed at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, Vt. until recently. It has since been refurbished and now finds a home at the Vermont National Guard Headquarters and Headquarters Command. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Denis Nunez)
