    An Icelandic Coast Guard Airbus H225 Super Puma hoists simulated casualties from steep, rocky terrain during mountain search and rescue training as part of exercise Northern Viking 26 in Iceland, Aug. 31, 2026. U.S. Air Force pararescuemen assigned to the 38th Rescue Squadron worked with Icelandic Coast Guard Super Puma crew to medically evacuate simulated casualties from terrain difficult to access by conventional means. Practicing these rescue operations strengthens the readiness and interoperability needed to respond rapidly in austere conditions and help secure the strategically important High North and North Atlantic.
